CUCelebrates: Softball Field Adds New Sound System

One of the more exciting initiatives supported by CUCelebrates this year is an upgrade to the Concordia Softball Field. Team 61 will break in a new sound system this spring.

A donation of $5,000 was made by an anonymous source and the news was recently shared with the team, who haven't been able to get out to the field in several months.

Everything was put into motion last year when a group of seniors on Team 60 approached administration about their lack of a sound system and the result turned out to be more phenomenal and permanent than they imagined. Head Coach Sarah O'Malley Fisher believes this shows the university values what the athletes are saying.

"It's important to be represented in the same way that other teams on campus are," O'Malley Fisher said. "This really makes us feel like we are a part of the department."

Prior to the upgrade, the team used a speaker purchased by the players, which lacked the full experience of a true sound system.

"I believe the ramifications of the new system will be understood when we host our first game," O'Malley Fisher said. "It shows a continued belief in our program and what we are trying to accomplish."

O'Malley Fisher would like to thank the anonymous donor as well as the university and administration for making this investment possible.
