LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the 384 student-athletes from 197 schools who comprise the 2022 NFCA Division III All-Region teams on Monday. Concordia University Chicago junior
Becky Pieroni was named a Second Team All-Region utility player. This is the second straight season she has earned All-Region recognition.
"Becky had another outstanding year for our program," remarked head coach
Sarah O'Malley-Fisher. " This award is such a compliment to her and her work ethic. The All-Region teams are filled with talented young women who represent their teammates ant their universities and I am so proud of Becky for being nominated.Â
Pieroni hit .410 this season over 35 games and 100 at-bats. She let the team with eight home runs and eight doubles while driving in 30 runs. She ranked in the top five in the NACC in nearly every offensive category. The Montgomery, Illinois native played at multiple positions throughout the 2022 season, starting 20 games at catcher, eight at first base, and seven as a designated player.
Pieroni is the first CUC softball player to earn back-to-back NFCA All-Region honors since Melissa Balkema did it in 2017 & 2018.
The awards honor student-athletes from the NFCA's 10 regions with selection to one of three teams. NFCA member head coaches nominate and then vote for the winners in their respective regions.
All honorees move forward to be considered for selection for the three NFCA Division III All-America squads, which will be announced on May 24.
