RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Another week down, another full slate of Concordia University Chicago (CUC) athletics action. This week multiple squads begin Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) action. Catch up on all the action.

Women's Soccer (0-6-1, 0-0)
Women's soccer competed in two non-conference games this week.
The Cougars first traveled to South Bend, Ind. to play Saint Mary's College, where they fell 3-0. Â
Brooke SheriffÂ
(Simi Valley, Calif.) got the start in net and collected three saves while Â
Katelyn WagnerÂ
(Lagrange, Ky.) stepped in during the second half and recorded two saves.
Mia Hirayama (Miliani, Hawaii),Â
Erika Flores (Oxnard, Calif.), andÂ
Angelina Barreno (Chicago, Ill.) each had a shot on goal.
CUC then took on the Hornets of Kalamazoo College on the road. The Cougars put up a fight but dropped the game 2-0. Sheriff recorded a season-high eight saves while
Grace Chavez (Morgan Hill, Calif.) had the lone shot on frame.
This week, women's soccer will open up NACC play, hosting Rockford University on Wednesday, September 17, at 2:00 pm. The Cougars will then host Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) on Sunday, September 21, at 1:00 pm.

Men's Soccer (1-4-1, 0-0)
CUC played two non-conference games this week.
The Cougars ended their opening run at home on September 11, hosting University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP).
Michael Senese (Naperville, Ill.) picked up a goal, but CUC fell 4-1.
Nethan Gudiel (Chicago, Ill.) andÂ
Kyle Schultz (Pingree Grove, Ill.) split time in net, each recording three saves.
Then in the first road game of the season, CUC played Eureka College. It was evenly matched in the first half,but the Red Devils found momentum in the second half and pulled ahead, 3-0.
Chase Zizak (Muskegon, Mich.) and Gudiel split time evenly in net and Zizak recorded a career-high four saves.
Justin Ocampo (Melrose Park, Ill.), Â
Giovanni Velasquez (Cicero, Ill.), and
Caleb Kale (Moline, Ill.) each had a shot on goal.
The men's soccer team also begins NACC play this week. The Cougars will play Rockford on the road at 3:00 pm on Wednesday September 17. Then on Sunday September 21, CUC is back at home, hosting MSOE at 3:30 pm.

Women's Volleyball (2-6, 0-0)
The women's volleyball team took part in the Marilyn Scribner Invitational, hosted by Wheaton College.
The Cougars began the tournament on Friday, playing Lawrence University. Despite close sets, CUC fell 3-1.
Indiah Day (Merrillville, Ind.) was the lone Cougar in double digits with 10 kills to lead the offense.
Rachel Livesay (Medinah, Ill.) and
Malainna Adler (Fenton, Mo.) each served three aces in addition to Livesay's nine digs and Adler's 24 assists.
Bethany Roethel (Westby, Wis.) led the defense with 15 digs.
The next day, CUC started off the day by competing against UWSP, falling 3-0.
Beatriz Goncalves (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) led the Cougar offense with seven kills while
Neva Foster (Parker, Colo.) followed closely behind with six.
Eva Fitzgerald (Houston, Texas) led in assists (15) and digs (6). At the net,
Ava Quevedo (Colorado Springs, Colo.) totaled three blocks.
The Cougars then faced Wheaton. CUC forced the match into five sets, but came up just short, falling 3-2. Day led the squad on offense with 13 kills, once again being the only Cougar to reach double digits. Adler and Fitzgerald split the wealth, recording 18 and 15 assists, respectively. Adler also totaled 12 digs while Fitzgerald had six aces.
Rosemary Brenner (Frankenmuth, Mich.) also recorded 12 digs.
CUC has two matches this week. The Cougars travel to play Eureka on Wednesday, September 17, at 6:00 pm. Then on Thursday, September 18, CUC is back in Geiseman Gymnasium, hosting Lake Forest College at 7:00 pm.

Cross Country
The Cougars ran at the Spartan XC Classic this past weekend.
The women's squad finished fourth of four teams.
Rose Losey (Royal Oak, Mich.) paced all Cougars, recording a personal best time of 28:18.0. Just behind her was Â
Sarah Redhage (Lowden, Iowa).
Marlena Butler also picked up a personal best of 32:54.2 as the third Cougar to cross the line. Â
Lydia Anderson (Carpentersville, Ill.) andÂ
Addi McKee (Knoxville, Ill.) rounded out the top five for CUC.
The men's team finished sixth of eight teams.
Nathaniel Boksa (Norridge, Ill.) finished top for the Cougars with a time of 30:16.3.Â
Dominic Carlson (Loves Park, Ill.) finished just behind him with a 30:25.5, a personal best.
Nathaniel Hernandez (Harwood Heights,Ill.) and
William Leonard (Oskaloosa, Iowa) came in third and fourth, respectively, for CUC. Rounding out the top five was
Andrew Paz Ponce De Leon (Harwood Heights, Ill.), who picked up a PR of 31.40.2.

On Saturday September 20, the Cougars will run at the Gil Dodds Invitational, in Warrenville, Ill. The men's race will begin at 10:00 am while the women follow at 10:45 am.

Football (2-0, 0-0)
The Cougars traveled to Indiana to play Manchester University, picking up their second win of the season, 35-14.
Colton BoschÂ
(Coopersville, Mich.) went 10-for-13 in the air with 217 yards thrown, including a program record tying 95-yard touchdown pass. On the receiving end of that touchdown pass was
Kevon LawsonÂ
(Pompano Beach, Fla.), who led with three total receptions for 102 yards.
Joron BrownÂ
(St. Joseph, Mich.)Â continued to be the leading force on the ground, rushing for 129 yards with no loss on the day, including three touchdowns and a 53-yard rush.
Wesley JacksonÂ
(Robinson, Ill.)Â recorded a touchdown in the air and totaled 16 yards. Defensively,
Kadin StroerÂ
(Warrenton, Mo.)Â led the team with 12 total tackles, 11 of which were solo tackles, and one sack.

(Kennesaw, Ga.) each picked up an interception.
The Cougars begin conference play this weekend on Saturday, September 20. CUC hosts St. Norbert College at 1:00 pm.

Women's Tennis (0-3, 0-2)
The women's tennis team competed against Marian University this past week.
At No. 1 doubles,
Amelia Engelman (McKinney, Texas) and
Amirah Shakir (Dekalb, Ill.) were the lone Cougar duo to grab a win in doubles where the score was 7-6. The duo of
Courtneye Schneider (Plainfield, Ill.) and
Arriyanna Amison (Dolton, Ill.) came just short of a victory at third doubles, falling 7-6.
Kathleen Castillo (Elmwood Park, Ill.) and
Hannah Upole (Hinkley, Ohio.) also put up a fight at No. 2 doubles, falling 6-4.
In singles, Engelman won her match at first singles, 6-0 and 6-4, to conclude a perfect day. Amison won at No. 5 singles in two 6-3 sets, while Schneider defeated her opponent in three sets (4-6, 6-4, 6-4) at sixth singles.
This week the Cougars have three matches. On Tuesday, September 16, CUC hosts Illinois Institute of Technology at 3:00 pm. Then on Sunday September 21, the Cougars travel to Mount Vernon, Iowa to take on Cornell College at 9:00 am and Wartburg College at 12:30 pm.
