This Week in CUC Athletics: December 1-7

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Students are back after Thanksgiving break and Concordia University Chicago (CUC) athletics is ready to kick start conference play this week.
 
Women's Basketball (1-5, 0-0)
The women's basketball team played one game this week. The Cougars hosted Lake Forest College and picked up a huge 74-62 victory just before Thanksgiving.

Ai Yonemura (Yachiyo, Chiba-Japan) shone with a team leading 24 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Grace King (Fairland, Ind.) followed with 16 points, three rebounds, and a steal. Abbi Dykstra (Yale, Mich.) was the third Cougar in double digits, recording 12 points and six rebounds. Defensively, Hannah Lopez (Chicago, Ill.) led the squad with eight rebounds.

CUC begins Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) play this week with two games. On Wednesday, December 3, the Cougars travel to Madison, Wis. to take on Edgewood University at 7:00 pm. Then on Saturday, December 6, CUC is back home in Geiseman Gymnasium. The team will host Rockford University with tipoff at 2:00 pm.
 
Men's Basketball (1-4, 0-0)
The men's basketball team traveled to Michigan and took on Alma College this past Saturday and fell 89-67.

Jaydon Watts (Homewood, Ill.) led the team with 12 points while Tallis Lowery (Fairview Heights, Ill.) scored 11 points and tallied three rebounds and one steal. Kenton Pryor (Hazel Crest, Ill.) ended the game with nine points and one rebound followed closely by Aaron Brown (Joliet, Ill.), who contributed eight points and two rebounds.

This week, CUC will play two conference games. The Cougars will host Edgewood at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 3. Then on Saturday, December 6, the team will play on the road at Rockford with a 1:00 pm tipoff.
 
Track & Field
Both track & field teams will open up the indoor season on Saturday, December 6. They will compete at the ONU Holiday Open in Bourbonnais, Ill.
